What I did: What I did for my project 4 was I really tried to focus on the black and white contrast of photos, and learning how to take really good ones.
What I learned: While doing this project I learned some techniques to take really good black and white contrast photos. I learned that you should focus on lines in photos because they show really good contrast. I took a photo of the stairs outside Capital and I liked the way it turned out because I think it shows good black and white contrast.

Timeline: Step 1: Research online for tips about improving the technique of taking contrast pictures with black and white photography. Step 2: Use the old style cameras and take pictures outside of Capital and take contrast photos. Step 3: Develop the pictures in the Darkroom. Step 4: Scan the pictures onto the computer and post them on my blog.
Description: What I want to do for my project 4 is to try and improve my black and white photos that I take. I want to focus on really bringing out the contrast of black and white and I want to work on developing my pictures so the black and white really stands out and catches your attention.

What I did: For my 3rd project I worked with black and white photography and also I worked with using the darkroom again. Shelby and I went outside around the school and took pictures with the old cameras, then we developed them which took a day. Then the Friday before break we started developing test strips. When we got back from break we developed our final pictures using filters.
What I Learned: While doing this project I learned how to use the old style cameras when the light meter isn’t working. I also learned how to use the darkroom equipment again, and we developed film for the first time using the filters.

For Project 3 I’ve been working on taking black and white photos with the old style cameras and were in the process of developing this week. We had a little trouble with the old style cameras because the light meter wasn’t working so we had to take our pictures mostly outside where we could use the sheet of paper Mr. LeDuc gave us to see what we should set the camera as. The pictures we took inside didn’t turn out because of the fact that the light meter wasn’t working. Next week I plan on printing out the photos that did turn out.

Timeline: Step 1: Research online techniques to take the best black and white photos. Step 2: Use the old style cameras to take pictures on my own. Step 3:Develop my film. Step 4: Put at least 3 black and white pictures I’ve taken into a portfolio.
Description: For my last project I worked with digital photography and mainly took pictures of things in and out of focus. For this project I still want to work with photography but I’m going to use the old style cameras so I can take black and white pictures. By taking black and white pictures it lets me use the dark room again, so I’ll have to re-learn how things work in the dark room, and also re-learn how to work with the old style cameras. By the end of this project I hope to learn how to roll film really well by myself.

What I did: For my 2nd project I worked with photography and photoshop. I went around the school and took pictures that were colorful and then I uploaded my pictures to the computer and I worked on them in photoshop. In photoshop I turned the photo black and white and then I put some of the original color back into pieces of the picture.
What I learned: While doing this project I learned how to add color back into a photo. I used photoshop most of the time and I became really familiar with it. I really liked this project because it was something a little different than what I usually do.

I’ve been working on my Project 2 for about a week now and it’s been going pretty good. So far I’ve taken 2 pictures that I like and I’ve worked on them in photoshop. I plan on taking one more picture and photoshopping color into it. In the beginning of the project I had a little trouble with the camera. I would go out and take pictures and then try to upload them onto the computer but they would all erase. That happened about 3 times but we got help from Mr. Le Duc and we figured out that we should use a different computer to upload the pictures. I haven’t really had any trouble with the photoshop and I’m happy with the way my pictures have turned out.

Timeline: Step 1: Research online examples of how to use the photoshop for the project and also look at different pictures. Step 2: Use a digital camera and take pictures around the school and outside. Step 3: Upload the pictures to the computer and work on them in photoshop. Step 4: Post the pictures to my blog and flickr.com.
Description: My first idea for Project 2 was to just focus on taking black and white photos with the old style cameras but while searching online for black and white pictures I found a Picture that was black and white but also had a little detail of color in it. I found that photo more interesting than plain black and white so I decided to change my Project 2 to something more interesting. I’m excited to start this project because I feel like I can get really creative with it and I’ve never worked with a picture I’ve taken in photoshop before. I’ve never changed the color in a photo before either so It’ll definatly be a learning experience.
